This year I feel like I got fewer presents overall than previous years, though I do think the presents i got were bigger in scope which more than makes up for it. Actually, I would rather have a single big present than a bunch of little presents so I think this worked out rather well. Continue reading
This year, my present haul went pretty well overall I think. I didn’t dislike anything I got in particular, and liked most everything pretty well. Last year, my roommate and I brought my daughter to the store to get presents for us, this year we couldn’t afford the extra presents which is unfortunate but hopefully we resume it next year.
Well had a vacation over the last week. Sent home my daughter yesterday. All is good in the home now. More quiet, is nice after 2.5 weeks of having a child lol
Getting my daughter today for two and a half weeks, my summer vacation time. Not entirely sure what we are going to do given our budget crisis, but happy to have her. Should be interesting.
I’m not entirely sure if it is really considered a staycation, because we actually didn’t stay anywhere overnight or anything. But my roommate, her sister, my daughter, and I all went to Devil’s Lake this weekend for a little get out of town vacation for the day. We really needed to get out of town, and with the budget the way it is, we had a hard time justifying much of anything so we thought going to a state park might be a good way to get out and have a good time.
I have made a post for a few years now about what I got for Chrsitmas so I feel this is my yearly tradition now, not sure it’s a great one but oh well it is mine. This Christmas I went to Wisconsin Dells with my daughter for a night, it was ok, stressful but fun. Got to go swimming. It was a fun Christmas I think for her… and onto the presents for me!
My cat recently got diagnosed with a tumor on his spine. This has got me thinking of the mortality of my favorite cat and the result is the realization that over the last few years I haven’t really been taking pictures of him much, and even worse I don’t think I have many, if any, pictures with him and I together. This has made me even more sad than the fact that I will not be able to enjoy his presence much longer. Now I am faced with the loss of even the memory of him.
You may have noticed the relative quiet over the past few weeks from me and for that I apologize. I like keeping my blog updated, I feel that it keeps me in the habit of writing on a regular basis which I think is helpful. The reason for my absence however has largely been due to the fact that I had my daughter, and I hate to say it but when you aren’t used to having kids, they just wear you right out. It has been a trying couple of weeks with her, with its fair share of ups and downs. But over this time, I feel that we were able to get out and do a couple of interesting summer vacationy type things so I figured I would write about them a little.
As is the usual case with my family and me, I did not get all my presents until New Years. Which IMHO is overall a better gift giving time anyway. Combine two holidays in one, avoid shopping rush and get shopping discounts. What could be better? At any rate, it was a fairly decent year for presents. I think it was strongest from my best friend and mother, and weakest from my sister (which is to be expected really).
I went to the Brookfield Zoo last weekend. We basically decided that we wanted to do something special with my daughter since we had her for a big trip this summer and we wanted her to have some memorable moments to go into the school year with. We were getting kind of tired of our local zoo (which is good but we’ve already gone 3 times this year) and thought that this might be a great change of pace.
