After months of hard work, I finally got my computer working. Or at least I think I do. I finally got it up and running last night, had it on all evening and it didn’t crash. Just turned it on this morning, and again appears good. It seems that the entire problem really was a motherboard problem that somehow looked and felt like a hard drive problem. I bought an Asus M3N-HD/HDMI, I didn’t really want to buy another Asus because that was the last one I had, but it had the features I was looking for at the price I was looking at so I just bought it. So far so good.

I am currently in the process of moving. We actually just signed our new lease last night for the apartment that we chose after a rapid fire weekend of showings. The apartment is pretty nice actually, almost twice the size of our current apartment, a ton of amenities, and a much more professional upkeep than we’ve had. But in this process, I’ve wanted to make some lifestyle changes; I guess that’s what you could call them. In particular I want to get rid of cable television.
I read an article in the Wisconsin State Journal not long ago about how MGE is trying to install an Urban Turbine into McKee Farms to allow people to see what these things do. The idea of a smaller formed windmill that might not take as much space as the more traditional ones got me thinking as to their potential usage in this country.
Thanks to Raven Software which my friend works for and thus I was able to get a ticket to go see the new Batman movie. The second in the latest series of Batman was nothing short of stellar. I can’t begin to describe just how pleased I was with the movie, but then I guess this is what I’m trying to do with this particular article. Continue reading ‘The Dark Knight Review’
The big news out of E3 for Nintendo really seemed to be the two new peripherals that they announced at the show. I say this mostly because there weren’t really a lot of new games shown. We knew about Animal Crossing which sadly looks like WW just on the Wii, we knew about Shaun White (and who cares really) and we knew about most of the other Wii titles. The DS version of GTA is a fairly huge deal and should do wonders for giving DS a much needed bump in sales, but really there wasn’t much else. There was no Kid Icarus, Punch-Out, Zelda, DS Redesign, original IP, Pikmin, not even any new info on Disaster (which more and more looks like vaporware).

I suppose since everyone else is talking about Favre so should I. I don’t necessarily want to as I am sick of it, but here I am. The truth of the matter is that over the last 5 or 6 years, Favre has made as much of a career of retiring as he has playing football. Because of this it isn’t entirely surprising that what is on everyone’s mind is what is going to happen to him now that he wants to unretired?

In previous years, I had actually gotten a subscription to either gamespot or IGN for the events at E3. Largely because a few years ago all the sites stopped really covering the event for free. So if you really wanted to get all the latest info of what was happening in the even these services were actually pretty good. This year though, I’m going to forgo the subscription service because, well, what is there for them to even report anymore? Yeah E3 is still going on, but it is no where near as newsworthy as it used to be. Where at one time everyone would hold all their cards close until E3, now we know most everything that is going to be there, minus 1 or 2.
If you were wondering where I have been over the last few days, I went on my yearly retreat up to my mother’s cottage. This year was a little different as I went up with my daughter and thus we had to entertain a young one which is difficult in a rustic setting. Still, I think we all had a lot of fun. Lots of swimming occurred, we went to a couple local restaurants, my roommate went kayaking down the river, we had a ton of s’mores around the campfire (not to mention grilled cheese & hotdogs), and pie at a really great pie place.
